"After announcing the program for the 2004 calendar
year, we have seen immediate benefits. Our carrier discounted us
heavily because we put in the financial incentives. Ninety-nine percent
of eligible employees are participating in the program. Many of our
employees have said that, as a result of the program, they have taken
the initiative to seek medical advice and have joined weight control
and/or exercise programs. Fewer donuts and more vegetables are shared
in the break rooms. A “wellness” culture is beginning
at our bank. This happened within a month and without our company
investing in brochures, wellness meetings or building a gym.
