Doug Short’s father started Short Associates, Inc. in 1962 as a sales organization providing Life and Health products and later Property and Casualty services. In 1990, the health division continued its growth and began providing comprehensive Third Party Administrative services as BeniComp Inc., for self-funded clients. BeniComp is also the exclusive claims administrator for two national fully insured carriers and the administrator of an Executive Reimbursement policy called BeniComp Select.

Most recently, BeniComp developed the BeniComp Advantage wellness product. This patent-pending product has received state approval for sales distribution in many states and should be available to most of the country by mid-2005. BeniComp Advantage has been featured in HR Magazine, Employee Benefit News, American Banker, The Wall Street Journal, Medscape and other publications for its innovative approach in providing solutions. BeniComp Advantage attacks the increasing costs in healthcare by addressing the root cause, poor lifestyles. It can be offered as an integrated product with BeniComp’s TPA services or as a stand-alone product in conjunction with any other TPA or carrier.
