    What Is High Blood Pressure?

    Nearly one in three American adults has high blood pressure. Once high blood pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime. The good news is that it can be treated and controlled. High blood pressure is called "the silent killer" because it usually has no symptoms. Some people may not find out they have it until they have trouble with their heart, brain, or kidneys. When high blood pressure is not found and treated, it can cause:


    Stroke Identification

    Face, arm, speech tests allows for quick, accurate stroke diagnosis.

    A test that examines facial weakness, arm weakness and speech disturbance allows paramedics to quickly and accurately identify stroke...

    The study found that paramedics who used “Face Arm Speech Test” (FAST), were in close agreement with neurologists using the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale in early recognition of stroke. FAST was developed in 1998 as a stroke identification tool that examines facial weakness (F), arm weakness (A), and speech disturbance (S). The study is the largest and first non-experimental study in which paramedics’ assessments using FAST to diagnose strokes were compared with assessments by stroke physicians or neurologists.
